Farrow & Ball Oval Room Blue No.85

Oval Room Blue No.85 is a dark blue from the Farrow & Ball Signature Palette, with a soft cool grey-green undertone that keeps it from reading cold. It sits in the dark band of the Farrow & Ball palette. It absorbs most of the light that falls on it, so it rewards rooms you want to feel enclosed and intimate — snugs, dining rooms, studies and panelled woodwork.

Using Oval Room Blue in a scheme

Cabbage White No.269 is the white to run with it — it shares the same undertone, so ceilings, cornices and skirtings stay in the same key. For a scheme built on one colour, step up to Borrowed Light No.235 on walls and down to Down Pipe No.26 on joinery.

Dark shades reward rooms you want smaller and warmer. In Irish winter light expect it to read deeper than the card, so plan your lighting to suit.
