Farrow & Ball Ballroom Blue No.24

Ballroom Blue No.24 is a mid blue from the Farrow & Ball Archive Collection, with cool blue-green undertones. It sits in the mid band of the Farrow & Ball palette. It holds its character in both daylight and lamplight without dominating a room, which makes it as comfortable on a full set of walls as it is on joinery.

Using Ballroom Blue in a scheme

Cabbage White No.269 is the white to run with it — it shares the same undertone, so ceilings, cornices and skirtings stay in the same key. For a scheme built on one colour, step up to Borrowed Light No.235 on walls and down to Down Pipe No.26 on joinery.

Priming and light

Prime bare or previously painted surfaces with Farrow & Ball Mid Tones Primer & Undercoat. Matching the primer to the depth of Ballroom Blue gives truer colour and usually saves you a topcoat. Irish light moves through the day and mid tones move with it. A test patch will show you how it reads in the morning and again under lamps.
