We recently visited Mary T and the experienced team at Foy & Co. who have been in business for over forty years. We learned about the history of this thriving family business as well as the recent innovations, wide selection of products and the helpful, customised services the team at Foy & Co. offer. It’s always a pleasure to catch-up with long-term members and learn about what’s new, future plans and to meet the team.
The family business originated in Ballybofey, however we visited the 15,000 sq. ft. showroom in Letterkenny. Under one roof you’ll find everything you need for your home, from interior and exterior paint, to interior design services, the latest in colour identification technology as well as soft furnishings and furniture. The paint and colour consultations are also particularly relevant to business premises. Foy and Co. have worked with fellow ShopLK and Members, Advice First Financial, Donegal Oil, and Charley’s Café to create a complementary, brand orientated palette to help these clients offer a colourful, on-brand welcome to their customers.
Stocking the best brand names for quality and innovation – Dulux, Fleetwood, Colour Trend and Little Green Paint Co. to name but a few from the vast paint selection. Foy and Co. employ over thirty people between the two locations, and received the Letterkenny Chamber Retail Excellence Award in 2018 and in 2019 were awarded a Letterkenny Chamber Highly Commended Award.
The moment you walk through the doors you’re swiftly greeted by a friendly member of the Foy and Co. team who are keen to help you with your specific needs or point you in the right direction/to the right department. The years of experience and family-owned culture, have had a clear impact as there is a very knowledgeable, customer focused and personal feel to Foy and Co.
Foy and Co. understand that your home, inside and out – is a reflection of yourself and so creating the correct look and feel, as well as maintaining it – on all matter of budgets, is key. There is no one-size-fits all, when it comes to the home or business premises , it’s all very individual. We spoke to three members of the Foy and Co. Letterkenny Team to better understand how to make the right choices for your home.
John McConnell aka ‘The Paint Doctor’ explained, that for many internal and external paint projects – preparation is everything. Ensuring you’re working with clean walls/surfaces – washing them down and making sure it’s a clean, dry base before painting begins (especially on wood!) is imperative. John is regularly asked about the best primers for the DIY jobs, and advises best practice on products like fungicidal wash. Often, customers are not sure how best to carry out the project and so John gives expert guidance in a friendly way so that you’re left feeling confident and well equipped for the task at-hand.
Miriam Mullan aka ‘The Interiors Wizard’ tells us about her Interior Design full-service offering with Foy and Co. which she delivers nationwide whether on site or via virtual consultations – with over twenty years of experience in interior design, Miriam knows how to best identify the unique needs of each client – whether it’s a blank canvas or a revamp. Miriam has an expert eye and vast experience, and works closely with the client asking intuitive questions and encouraging use of visual examples – to learn what will work best. When it comes to corporate clients, Miriam knows the importance of carrying a brand’s look and feel, consistently throughout a space. Whether home or business, Miriam’s expertise and attention to detail is a wonderful asset for getting expert guidance on developing the ideal environment.
Catriona Mulhern aka ‘The Colour Queen’ emphasises how important choosing the right colour is, and is equipped with all of the experience and software required to help the client choose, colour-match and/or complement their space and surroundings. Catriona followed on from Miriam’s advice, pointing out that not only is brand consistency key for the business colour scheme – but also being mindful of their surroundings and neighbours in terms of exterior paint choices. Wise words! Catriona has even been asked to match her eyeshadow to a paint shade for a customer, which – was not a problem. Uniquely, Foy and Co. use Spectrum Software, for unparalleled colour matching expertise, delivered by the helpful and friendly team.
