St Brigid's Woven Cross Bronze Wall Plaque

The St Brigid's Woven Cross Bronze Wall Plaque is a 15 cm bronze plated plaque showing St Brigid's cross in its traditional woven style.

Traditional Rush Cross Design Cast in Bronze

Brigid's crosses have long been woven from 18 rushes each February and hung to protect the home. This plaque keeps that woven pattern, but unlike a rush cross it lasts for years. Browse more Irish-made gifts.

The compact size suits a wall, shelf or mantel.

St Brigid's Day falls on 1 February, the first day of spring in the old Irish calendar, and it has been marked with a bank holiday since 2023. Traditionally a new rush cross is made each year and hung over the door or in the kitchen. This bronze plated version, at H 15 x W 15 cm, keeps the woven pattern but will not dry out or fall apart like a real one.

Present for a New Home or February Feast

As a blessing for the home, it is a thoughtful present for St Brigid's Day, a housewarming or a family moving into their first house. See our gifts.

It is a good gift for a family moving into their first home, a newly married couple or a relative abroad who would like the tradition in their own house. Many people hang it inside the front door or above the kitchen door, where rush crosses traditionally go. It also suits anyone named Brigid, Bridget or Bríd, as a present on their feast day.
