Scatterbox Cushion Elodie Dusk Rose

The Scatterbox Cushion Elodie Dusk Rose is a scatter cushion in short polyester velvet, edged with a cut fringe. Dusk rose is the muted pink in the Elodie run, closer to clay than to blush, and it is offered in two sizes.

Colour Held in a Short Pile

A dyed velvet carries colour differently from a woven one: the pigment sits on the pile rather than in a visible thread, so the face has no weave pattern to break it up. That gives a flat, even field of colour, and it is the reason this shade reads as one tone across the whole face rather than shifting from one area to another. The cut fringe runs the full length of each edge and is the only break in that field.

Warming a Room Without Red

Dusk rose does what a red would do in a cool room, but at a volume that will not date the scheme in two years. It sits well beside oatmeal and grey soft furnishings, and it will not fight a patterned rug on the floor the way a saturated pink does. Inside is a feather pad, which is why the cushion settles into the small of a back and recovers when the weight comes off. It takes a pale neutral in front of it without either one cancelling the other, and it is one of the few mid tones that holds up against both oak and painted furniture. In the larger of the two sizes it will carry a chair on its own; in the smaller it belongs in front of something plainer.
