Scatterbox Cushion Elodie Cappuccino

The Scatterbox Cushion Elodie Cappuccino is a scatter cushion in short polyester velvet with a cut fringe running along each edge. Cappuccino is the warm neutral in the Elodie run, and it comes in two sizes so a pair can be layered rather than lined up.

A Pile That Reads Two Ways

Short velvet changes tone with the angle it is viewed from: darker where the pile lies away from the light, paler where it lies towards it. That is why a cappuccino face looks closer to taupe in a north-facing room and closer to sand in afternoon sun. The fringe is cut to a short, even length, so it keeps a clean line along the edge instead of fraying into the seam, and it holds that line through plumping.

The Neutral in a Group of Five

A warm neutral is the cushion to buy in pairs, because it fills the gaps between stronger colours without adding a second pattern to the group. Set against a grey sofa it warms the seat; against a cream one it marks the difference between the two tones. The pad inside is feather, so it carries weight without going flat along the fold, and the corners stay square with a hand plump rather than a beating. Two sizes are offered, and a cappuccino face is one of the few that works equally well as the large cushion at the back of a group or the small one set in front of it. Keep the group to one patterned face and let this carry the rest, and the seat reads as arranged rather than accumulated.
