Farrow & Ball Purbeck Stone No.275

Purbeck Stone No.275 is a mid grey from the Farrow & Ball Signature Palette, with a soft warm yellow undertone that keeps it from reading cold. It sits in the mid band of the Farrow & Ball palette. It holds its character in both daylight and lamplight without dominating a room, which makes it as comfortable on a full set of walls as it is on joinery.

Using Purbeck Stone in a scheme

Slipper Satin No.2004 is the white to run with it — it shares the same undertone, so ceilings, cornices and skirtings stay in the same key. For a scheme built on one colour, step up to Shaded White No.201 on walls and down to Mole's Breath No.276 on joinery.

Priming and light

Prime bare or previously painted surfaces with Farrow & Ball Mid Tones Primer & Undercoat. Matching the primer to the depth of Purbeck Stone gives truer colour and usually saves you a topcoat. Sitting mid-range, it takes its cue from the room around it. Test it against your floor and woodwork, not just the wall.
