Celtic Shamrock Bone China Mug

The Celtic Shamrock Bone China Mug is a 380 ml fine bone china mug featuring a shamrock drawn in the style of 9th century Celtic manuscripts.

Green and Gold Knotwork Coffee Cup

The shamrock is surrounded by woven knotwork borders like the pages monks once painted onto vellum, in rich green and gold on white. Explore our Cups and Mugs range.

It holds 380 ml, enough for a large tea or coffee. Hand washing is recommended to keep the decoration bright.

Vellum was calfskin, prepared and dried so that monks could write and paint on it with inks and gold. The knotwork on this mug follows the same idea, with lines that weave over and under each other around the shamrock. The green and gold on a white background keep it bright, and it looks at home on a dresser or open kitchen shelf as well as in daily use.

Gift for St Patrick's Day and Birthdays

It suits St Patrick's Day, birthdays and visitors from abroad who want a useful Irish souvenir. Browse more Irish-made gifts.

For St Patrick's Day it is a nice gift for someone abroad who misses home, or for a child to give a parent. As a birthday present it goes well with a packet of good tea or coffee, or a box of chocolates. It also works as a thank-you for an overseas visitor who wants something useful to bring home. Hand wash it rather than using the dishwasher, so the gold stays bright.
