Energizer and Duracell batteries including 9V, CR2032, LR44 and LR1 packs

Batteries for Every Device at Home

Batteries at Foy & Company cover the everyday sizes Irish homes use most: AA, AAA and 9V alkaline batteries, plus CR2032, LR44/A76 and LR1/E90 coin and specialist cells. The range is from Energizer and Duracell, with single packs for a quick replacement and multipacks for keeping spares in the drawer.

AA, AAA and 9V Batteries for Everyday Devices

AA and AAA are 1.5 volt alkaline cells and the most common sizes in the home, used in TV remotes, wall clocks, torches, toys, game controllers and wireless keyboards. Larger multipacks such as the Energizer Max Plus 10+10 pack are a practical way to stock up. The rectangular 9V battery powers many smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, as well as guitar pedals and multimeters.

Coin Cell and Button Batteries Explained

Small devices often take a coin or button cell. The CR2032 is a 3 volt lithium coin cell used in car key fobs, kitchen and bathroom scales, heart rate monitors and alarm sensors. The LR44, also sold as A76, is a 1.5 volt alkaline button cell for watches, calculators, laser pointers and toys. The LR1, also called E90 or N size, is a 1.5 volt cell used in some cameras, Bluetooth headsets and medical monitors.

How to Choose the Right Battery Size

The quickest way to choose is to check the code printed on the old battery or inside the battery compartment, then match it to the size in the product title. Alkaline cells suit everyday, low-to-medium drain devices, while lithium coin cells hold their charge for years and work well in cold conditions, which makes them a good fit for car keys.

Battery Safety, Storage and Recycling

Keep coin and button batteries out of reach of children, as they are dangerous if swallowed, and store spares in their original packaging. Keep batteries in a cool, dry place and avoid mixing old and new cells in the same device. Never put used batteries in the household bin: in Ireland, shops that sell batteries accept used portable batteries for recycling free of charge.
